Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer took to social media platform X to express the Maldives' disappointment following the recent decision by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to deny Palestine's application for full membership in the UN.

In his post, Minister Zameer stated, "The #Maldives is once again disheartened by the decision of the UNSC to deny the application of Palestine to become a full member of the UN."

He emphasized the Maldives' solidarity with over 140 UN Member States in supporting the Palestinian cause and their aspirations for full UN membership. The Minister stressed the importance of the UN upholding its principles of justice and equality for all.

"We stand with more than 140 UN Member States to support the Palestinian cause and their application to become a full member of the UN. It is imperative that the UN upholds its principles of justice and equality for all," Minister Zameer affirmed.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister reiterated the Maldives' call for a just and lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, based on the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine along the pre-1967 borders.

The Maldives continues to advocate for peace and stability in the Middle East region, underscoring the need for meaningful dialogue and concerted international efforts to achieve a lasting resolution to the longstanding conflict.
