Peaceful protests by nurses were held yesterday in front of hulhumale’ hospital, nurses demanded equal distribution of covid-19 frontline allowances. They have also complained about Nurses not receiving covid-19 allowances for the frontline staff.
During the protests around 40 nurses participated, standing up for an equal distribution of approved allowances by the president of the Maldives to the frontline staff.
Previously it has been reported to Ras online that hulhumale’ hospital 3 nurses who worked in covid-19 isolation facility received only 8000 MVR as a frontline allowance and hulhumale’ hospital counter staff received 30,000 - 40,000 MVR as a frontline allowance while hulhumale’ hospital nurses working in high risk areas did not receive anything as an allowance.
President of the Maldives has approved covid-19 allowance for frontline staff in 3 levels, in a combination of High risk workers, medium risk workers and low risk workers. This includes; Doctors, Nurses, Rapid Response Teams, Lab technicians and patients transporting working in the frontline in attending covid-19 cases.
