The Ministry of Economic Development has launched an online portal to monitor and track food prices during Ramadan, providing consumers with updated information on essential commodities.

The portal was inaugurated by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed at a ceremony held yesterday. It allows users to access the latest prices of 98 essential food items, based on data collected through random market inspections.

Currently, the portal features price information collected from Malé. The Economic Ministry stated that it will categorize prices into three sections:
- Basic food items: 93 products
- Fruits and vegetables: 38 products
- Meat items: 10 products

Among these, 32 essential items have been identified as critical for monitoring. The ministry also noted that the portal's classification system aligns with international standards to ensure transparency and consistency.
