The Maldives breaks the daily record once again on tourist arrivals with 5,100 tourists.

The Maldives reopened its borders on July 15, 2020, after closing the borders for three long months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As per the statistics of the Ministry of Tourism, so far this year Maldives has seen over 160,000 tourist arrivals.

The recent statistics of the Tourism Ministry have shown that Maldives today surpassed 5,100 tourist arrivals, breaking the daily record for the year 2021. The statistics also show that as of today, over 70,000 tourists have arrived during February.



As per the Tourism Ministry, the top source market for tourist arrival was India with 36,084 arrivals, followed by Russia with 34,593 tourist arrivals. Ukraine stood third with 10,777 tourist arrivals. Other top source markets include Kazakhstan, Romania, Germany, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and the UK.

The government expects to reach over 1.5 million tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year.

Following the border reopening on 15th July, the Maldives has seen an increase in tourist arrivals from day-to-day amidst the pandemic. The Maldives has seen a total of 555,494 tourist arrivals in the year 2020.
