President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of prominent religious scholar Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed Ahmed, praising his lifelong dedication to Islamic guidance.

In a message following the news of Sheikh Fareed’s sudden death, President Muizzu said that although the respected scholar has passed away, the memory of his active role in guiding the Muslim community remains everlasting. He noted that Sheikh Fareed was a devoted religious figure who dedicated his life to preaching Islam and promoting righteousness.

The President prayed for Sheikh Fareed to be granted the eternal rewards of Paradise and extended heartfelt condolences to his family.

Sheikh Fareed collapsed and died shortly after arriving at a Malaysian airport to attend a religious conference. He was given immediate medical attention but could not be revived.

Throughout his life, Sheikh Fareed played a significant role in religious education and reform in the Maldives. He was widely known for his eloquent sermons and his efforts to call people to Islam. His passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from political parties, religious organizations, scholars, and members of the public.
