The statistics from the Tourism Ministry of the Maldives has shown that over 8800 tourism frontline teams have already received their first doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

In this regard, the Tourism Ministry has stated Maldives is on track to be among the first countries to give Covid-19 vaccination opportunity to all working in the tourism sector.

“We currently have the vaccination drive set up in over 40 resorts. Our target is to set up at least 2 vaccination centres in each atoll. Resort staff can also travel to nearby resorts to get vaccinated. We have also trained over 50 resort doctors for the administration of the vaccine.” said Assad Riza, Deputy Minister of Tourism.

The Tourism Ministry has previously announced the expansion of the vaccination drive to the resorts in line with the permits by HPA. Vaccination of frontline workers in resorts rolled out on February 14, beginning with Bandos Maldives Resort.

Maldives began its nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign in February 01. Since then, 138,827 people across the Maldives have been vaccinated.
