As per the Tourism Ministry, so far 29 guesthouses are given permits to open for tourism service.
Guesthouses were announced to open on the 15th of October, after being closed down since the 17th of March, due to the pandemic. The permits were announced for the guesthouses on premises other than the greater Male’ area.
Guesthouses are permitted through special guidelines set by the Tourism Ministry. Through this special permit, The Tourism Ministry has given permits for 29 guesthouses in 9 islands from 4 atolls.
The permitted guest houses are from the following island:
- N. Fohdhoo
- K. Huraa
- K. Maafushi
- K. Guraidhoo
- A.A. Mathiveri
- A.A. Ukulhas
- A.A Thoddoo
- V. Thinadhoo
- V. Fulidhoo
The Tourism Ministry will be granting permits for the guesthouses if the guidelines set for the islands are being followed, and the island council should give the guarantee of the guidelines followed to the Tourism Ministry. Along with this, HPA has also announced that it is mandatory to wear the mask in public areas.
