Vice President Faisal Naseem inaugurated new services at the healthcare centre on Hulhumeedhoo Island in Addu City on Thursday. He is currently on a visit to Addu and Fuvahmulah cities.
The new services, officially launched at a function in Seenu Atoll School, include ophthalmology, dental, ENT, X-ray, physiotherapy, and dialysis services. After inaugurating the new services, the Vice President toured the healthcare centre and inquired about its operations.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Vice President reiterated that the administration accorded top priority to improving healthcare services across the country. He said that the new services launched today would ease access to healthcare for the residents of hulhumeedhoo island.
The Vice President also spoke about the administration’s efforts to develop and improve the healthcare sector. He noted ongoing efforts to establish tertiary hospitals in five regions, including Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH). He also stated that numerous developmental projects are progressing in Addu City, especially in the healthcare and education sectors.
The 16-bed healthcare centre on Hulhumeedhoo Island, which lies separate from the other islands in Addu City, is managed by AEH. Specialist doctors from AEH routinely hold consultations at the healthcare centre, which provides 24-hour services.
