Data released by the Ministry of Tourism reveals that as of April 17, 703,292 tourists had graced the Maldives with their presence, marking a significant increase of 14.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

In April alone, 99,288 tourists arrived, contributing to the steady rise in visitor numbers. Last month, the Maldives welcomed 194,227 tourists, reflecting the growing popularity of the destination among travelers seeking pristine beaches and luxury resorts.

On average, the Maldives is now welcoming approximately 5,840 tourists each day, with visitors typically spending around seven days exploring the archipelago's idyllic charms.

China remains the leading source of tourists to the Maldives, followed closely by the United Kingdom and Russia. With tourism playing a vital role in the Maldives' economy, the government has set an ambitious target of attracting 2.3 million tourists by the end of this year.

The latest figures underscore the Maldives' enduring appeal as a top-notch holiday destination, offering unrivaled natural beauty, world-class hospitality, and a diverse range of experiences for travelers from around the globe.

In 2023, despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, the Maldives welcomed 1,878,543 tourists, reflecting its resilience and attractiveness as a sought-after vacation spot.
