The Maldives has witnessed a significant boost in tourism, with a 9.2% increase in visitors compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism. So far this year, 1,015,529 tourists have arrived in the Maldives, surpassing the 929,607 tourists recorded during the same timeframe in the previous year.

The latest data reveals that China leads in tourist arrivals, contributing 120,726 visitors. Russia follows closely, with the UK ranking third, bringing in 105,068 tourists. Additionally, 93,291 tourists from various other countries have visited the Maldives this year.

In May alone, the Maldives welcomed 120,262 tourists, with the daily average now standing at 5,580 tourists. This steady influx underscores the country's enduring appeal as a premier travel destination.

To accommodate the growing number of tourists, the Maldives has expanded its hospitality sector. Currently, there are 175 operational resorts, 14 hotels, 864 guesthouses, and 150 safari vessels catering to the diverse preferences of visitors.

The Ministry of Tourism attributes this increase to the country's successful marketing strategies and the growing global interest in the Maldives as a unique and picturesque destination.
