More than 100 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement set to take effect on Sunday.
According to Gaza’s civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal, at least 103 people have been killed and 264 wounded since the ceasefire was announced on Wednesday. The casualties include 31 women and 27 children.
Basal reported that 82 of the deaths occurred in northern Gaza, while 16 were in the south, including 14 in Khan Younis and two in Rafah. Five others were killed in central Gaza.
Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed at least 46,788 Palestinians and wounded over 110,000. More than 11,000 remain missing amid a worsening humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, at least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during Hamas-led attacks on October 7, with more than 200 taken captive.
Despite international calls for peace, the situation in Gaza remains dire, with continued violence and mounting casualties raising concerns over the ceasefire’s implementation.
