The Minister of Language, Culture, and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, has announced that this year's Martyrs' Day will be colorful and meaningful.

In a message shared on social media today, Minister Adam Naseer noted that Martyrs' Day, observed on 1 Sha’ban, will coincide with January 31 this year.

He stated that special activities are planned to honor the day and commemorate its significance.

Martyrs' Day is celebrated annually on the first day of Sha’ban to honor Sultan Ali VI. He was martyred in 965 AH while defending the nation against the Portuguese in the western courtyard of Malay.

Following King Ali’s martyrdom, the country fell to Portuguese rule, and history records that he was buried where he fell in battle. His final resting place, marked by the famous King Ali’s shrine, symbolizes his sacrifice and the enduring spirit of freedom.

The government’s plans for this year’s celebration aim to reflect the nation's pride and gratitude for its martyrs.
