President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives' unwavering stance in supporting Palestinian rights, declaring that the nation would never support any move to evict Palestinians from Gaza.

He made the remarks during his Presidential Statement at the opening session of the 2025 Parliament.

Emphasizing Gaza's rightful belonging to the Palestinian people, President Muizzu condemned land occupation, loss of innocent lives, and violations of human dignity. He stressed that such crimes are unacceptable and must be opposed by the international community.

The President highlighted Maldives' involvement in international efforts to support Palestine, noting that the country had intervened in South Africa's application to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel last year. Maldives had also co-sponsored a United Nations General Assembly resolution in December 2024 requesting advisory input from the ICJ on Israel's responsibilities regarding international law.

President Muizzu called for urgent humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, reiterating the Maldives' position that East Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine and that a separate Palestinian state must be established. He pledged his administration's continued cooperation and support to help Palestinians achieve their aspirations for statehood.
