The SAFF Championship is set to take place in Sri Lanka this year, marking the return of the prestigious South Asian football tournament to the country after 17 years.
The last edition of the championship was held in 2023 in Bangalore, India, where India emerged as the champion, securing its ninth SAFF Championship title.
This year’s tournament is scheduled to run from June 22 to July 7 and will feature seven SAARC nations, including Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bhutan.
Maldives has previously won the SAFF Championship twice, with victories in 2008 and 2018. The tournament is expected to bring intense competition as teams from across South Asia compete for the title.
