The government has introduced the "Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare Bill" in Parliament, aiming to regulate animal breeding, trade, and welfare while ensuring human safety.

State Minister Ali Safwan Ibrahim addressed concerns over whether animal rights were being prioritized over human rights, stating that the bill aligns with international standards to safeguard both. He emphasized that stricter regulations would prevent the spread of diseases from imported animals and strengthen existing import-export laws.

Safwan also highlighted the rise in animal cruelty cases, asserting that the bill would empower authorities to take stricter action. The proposed legislation outlines guidelines for animal care, breeding, and disease prevention, ensuring a balanced approach to human and animal welfare.
