Former K-pop star Taeil, 31, has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for raping a Chinese tourist in Seoul.
Taeil, whose real name is Moon Tae-il, was convicted alongside two accomplices, identified as Lee and Hong. All three admitted to taking turns assaulting the victim after she became unconscious from heavy drinking in Itaewon.
The court described the crime as "extremely grave" but gave a reduced sentence, citing that it was their first offence. Prosecutors had asked for seven years.
The men were also ordered to undergo 40 hours of treatment for sexual violence offenders.
Taeil left the K-pop group NCT in August 2024 after the allegations surfaced. Formed in 2016, NCT is known globally for its experimental music and success on international charts.
