The UN human rights office reported Tuesday that at least 875 people have been killed over the past six weeks near aid distribution points in Gaza, with most deaths occurring around sites operated by the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

According to the UN, 674 of the deaths occurred near GHF sites, while 201 were recorded along the routes of other aid convoys, including those run by the United Nations.

GHF, which began distributing food in late May following the lifting of an 11-week Israeli aid blockade, has denied any deadly incidents at its sites and accused the UN of spreading misinformation. The UN has rejected those accusations and described the GHF aid model as “inherently unsafe” and in violation of humanitarian neutrality standards.

UN spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan said the casualty data was compiled from medical, humanitarian, and human rights sources.

The GHF claims to have delivered over 75 million meals in Gaza and accuses Hamas and criminal gangs of looting nearly all aid distributed by other organizations — an allegation Hamas denies.

The Israeli military said it is reviewing recent mass casualty events and has taken steps to reduce clashes, including new access routes and barriers. Meanwhile, the UN World Food Programme has warned that many aid trucks are being intercepted by desperate civilians before reaching distribution points.
