President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu marked World Humanitarian Day today with a message honouring the courage and sacrifice of humanitarian workers across the globe.

In his statement, the President paid tribute to aid personnel who have risked, and in many cases lost, their lives in efforts to bring relief and hope to those in need. He expressed concern over the deliberate targeting and harassment of humanitarian workers, noting that such actions deny civilians in conflict zones access to essential food, water, medicine, and protection.

Highlighting the bravery and compassion of aid workers, President Muizzu made special mention of humanitarian personnel in Gaza, saying their sacrifices reaffirm the pursuit of dignity, peace, and justice.

He also underscored the importance of upholding international humanitarian law and the principles of neutrality, impartiality, and independence, calling on the global community to take urgent action to safeguard aid workers.

Concluding his message, the President emphasized the collective responsibility to build a just and compassionate world. He also reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with humanitarian workers worldwide in a post on his official X account.
