President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the construction of a new health centre for AA. Maalhos will begin this year.

Speaking with residents today as part of his tour of Alifu Alifu Atoll, the President noted that the current facility is housed in an old, deteriorating building. He confirmed that a contractor would be appointed for the project, which will include fully equipped laboratory services.

At the same ceremony, an agreement was signed to develop the island’s roads, with the President describing the initiative as vital to strengthening infrastructure and tourism. He also pledged to designate separate beaches for residents and tourists, supported by a shore protection project funded in next year’s budget.

Highlighting the designation of Ranfaru Lagoon under Maalhos jurisdiction, President Muizzu said its economic opportunities now belong to the island’s residents and pledged government support for community-led development initiatives.

During the visit, the President also inaugurated the island’s new water and sewerage systems.
