President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that his administration will not pursue any development initiative that does not reflect the aspirations and needs of the people.
The President made the statement Tuesday on his official X account, responding to concerns over a planned land reclamation project for Dhonfan in South Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
He reiterated his pledge to carry out projects in line with local community wishes, noting that while an agreement had previously been signed to proceed with the Dhonfan reclamation as requested by residents, the government will now discontinue the project due to a shift in public opinion.
President Muizzu further confirmed that relevant authorities will formally notify the Dhonfan Island Council of the decision today.
