Former Deputy Minister of Transport Saudullah Ahmed has said that government leaders should not believe they can remain in power indefinitely.

In a social media post, Saud accused the government of destroying the country’s financial system and misleading the public. He said that awarding a record number of projects amid an economic crisis would not be accepted by the people.

Saud’s remarks come after the recent amendment to the Finance Rules, allowing the government to award certain projects directly without a competitive tender process. Since taking office, the current administration has awarded several projects to state-owned companies without open bidding.
