The total number of Covid-19 fatalities has risen to 111, with 06 fatalities reported this Wednesday.
As per the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the 111 Covid-19 fatality is a 66-year-old Maldivian male admitted at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility. He was declared dead at 09:48 am.
In addition to this, the 110th Covid-19 fatality is a 63-year-old Maldivian female, who passed away at 08:30 am, and the 109th Covid-19 fatality is a 51-year-old Indian male who passed away at 08:44 am. Both patients were admitted to Hulhumale’ Medical Facility. The 108th Covid-19 fatality is a 73-year-old Maldivian male brought to IGMH/ER who was declared dead at 7:25 am. Additional two fatalities were observed in L. Atoll. The patients were admitted to the Laamu Covid Management Facility. Out of this, one patient is identified as an 87-year-old Maldivian male who passed away at 01:54 am, and the second patient is identified as a 69-year-old Maldivian female who passed away later at 3:01 am.
The Maldives reported the first death to Covid-19 on April 29 last year. While this May has seen the highest number of fatalities in the Maldives. As per the statistics, a total of 91 locals and 13 foreigners have passed away from Covid-19 complications.
With a surge in Covid-19 infections in recent weeks, over 56 residential islands outside of the greater Male' region are placed under monitoring. So far, Maldives has recorded 47,421 positive cases and 29,086 recoveries.
