Seafarers are advised to be cautious of the weather as the National Meteorological Center predicts stormy weather, rough seas, and wind speed up to 40mph for the following 3 days in most parts of Maldives, said the Maldives National Deffence Force (MNDF).
MNDF has advised Crewmen and captains of vessels to be up to date with the latest weather reports and to verify the vessels they travel in are equipped with functional water pumps, safety equipment, and communication systems. MNDF said that the Cargo ships should not exceed the load limit and small vessels are advised not to travel during the night or in bad weather as it comprises safety.
In addition, MNDF has also advised that the vessels docked in and out of the harbor should be taken good care of.
MNDF requests that the Coastguard should be informed of any incidents without any delay, via toll-free number 191.
