Due to Covid-19, the government has given a deferral for the rent paid for the government housing flats in Male’, Hulhumale’ and other islands. Government has decided to extend this rent deferral for 3 more months.
Statement by the Ministry of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure said that the decision was made upon many requests, hence the deferral period has been extended for another 3 months, from September to November.
Although the rent is deferred, tenants should continue to pay monthly maintenance fee and the rent deferral period will be added as an extension of the agreement period.
As per the Ministry of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, application for the rent deferral should be sent to the ministry via email to [email protected] along with ID card copy and rent agreement reference number by October 15th.
