Former President, Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed said that he did not receive any funds from the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement and money laundering scandal run under the administration of Former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
“I will repeatedly say that I have not received any funds through the MMPRC scandal,” said Nasheed.
He said this in regards to the last court hearing of the MMPRC case against the Former Vice President Adeeb, Where Adeeb has said
that a lot of people were involved in the MMPRC scandal, including the authorities and institutions under the former administration, Political parties, and many parliament members as well. As per Adeeb, there will not be any party which has not received benefits through the MMPRC embezzlement and money laundering scandal.
The MMPRC scandal is still under investigation jointly from the Commission set up by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Maldives Police Service and Prosecutor General's Office.
As per the Asset Recovery Commission, almost 3 billion MVR is lost through the MMPRC embezzlement and money laundering scandal.
