Maldives Police service arrested three people from the narcotics operations conducted against drug trafficking.

As per the Police service, the special operations were conducted from the intelligence information received of drugs being transferred from Male’, to Shaviyani atoll and Noonu atoll, and the special operations against were conducted jointly with the Police intelligence, Sh. Komandoo Police station and N. Manadhoo police station.

Through the special operation, Police checked the speed boat suspected to be carrying the drug, when it reached Sh. Komandoo jetty on 10th October. Through the search, Police seized two bags and a small rubber packet suspected of drugs packed in. Police did not make an arrest regarding this investigation.

Moreover, a special operation against drug trafficking was conducted along with the intelligence information received of drug trafficking in Th. Hirilandhoo island. Through this special operation, three men, a 34-year-old, 26-year-old, and a 23-year-old were arrested. This operation against drug trafficking in Th. Hirilandhoo island was conducted jointly with the Police intelligence and Hirilandhoo police station, on 9th October.

Three men were arrested through a search made in an uninhabited house, where Police seized 16 pieces of paper suspected of drugs packed in. Veymandoo magistrate court has granted to keep the arrested three men in custody for further investigation.
