More than 100,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this August said the Ministry of Tourism.
According to the Tourism Ministry data, 110,079 tourists visited the country as of the 24th of this month.
Statistics show that a total of 1,056,851 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. This is an increase of 45 percent compared to 729,053 tourists during the same period last year.
Tourism Ministry data showed India as the largest tourist destination in the Maldives. Indian tourists accounted for 14.2 percent of the total tourist arrivals so far this year. The UK is the second largest tourist destination in the Maldives. The third largest number comes from Russia.
The Maldives has received more than a million tourists so far this year and aims to attract 1.6 million tourists this year.
