Former Foreign Minister, Ms. Dhunya Maumoon raises questions on whether the new Health Minister appointed is capable or not.
In a tweet, Ms. Dhunya questions whether Ahmed Naseem (also known as Kerafa Naseem) is the right choice for the Health Minister and whether he has the right expertise to be appointed as the new Health Minister in the middle of a global pandemic.
She further questioned the coalition agreements as well. As per the coalition agreement, Ministerial positions are divided amongst the coalition parties. Under this agreement, the Health Minister position falls for the Jumhoory party (JP). But Ahmed Naseem was hired, for the position while JP has already nominated five people for the position.
Previously the Adhaalath party and Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) party also lost an opportunity to have one of its members for a minister. Following this, people have been raising concerns about the assurance given by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to contribute to the party coalition and to maintain the coalition agreements as well.

The appointment of the new health minister raises questions. Is this the right choice for the position? Does this minister carry the right expertise to be appointed in the middle of a global pandemic? (1/2)

Secondly the consolidation of all ministerial positions leaves the public wondering about their role in decision and policy making.
