President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday visited and met with the management and staff of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC). The President recognised the vital role of MMPRC in promoting the Maldives as a tourism destination and extended his gratitude to the staff for their invaluable contributions to the tourism sector.
The Maldives was named the 'World's Leading Destination' for the third consecutive year at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2022, while MMPRC claimed the title of 'World's Leading Tourism Board'—a first for the Maldives. The awards were unveiled on November 11, 2022, at the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2022 in Muscat, Oman.
Speaking with the company's staff, the President recognised their hard work and dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic. Describing tourism as the mainstay of the country's economy, the President assured MMPRC of the administration's cooperation and support.
The President was presented with a commemorative plaque of appreciation, a copy of the book series titled "Tales of Maldives," and a book on the company's accomplishments in 2021.
