The first medical evacuation from the Dornier flight has been carried out last night.
As per the details from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), a medical evacuation of a 78-year-old male in critical condition has been carried out from H.dh. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital to Male' City by MNDF Northern Command via MNDF Dornier flight.
The flight landed at midnight last night. This would be the first medical evacuation carried out from the Dornier flight.
The Dornier Military Aircraft will be operated under the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at Hanimaadhoo Airport, while the Indian military will be bearing the operating costs of the aircraft.
The aircraft will be used for Search and Rescue operations, Maritime/EEZ surveillance, Humanitarian Assistance, Disaster Relief, surveillance operations against drug trafficking, Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
Meanwhile, the government has received a lot of criticism and backlash from the public for Indian army officers present in the Maldives to look after the helicopters and Dornier flights.
