Minister of Tourism Abdulla Mausoom announces the decision of random sample taking for Covid-19 in Tourist facilities.
The Minister's statement comes following several Covid-19 positive cases recorded in Kandima Maldives resort.
In a tweet, Minister Mausoom said that the decision has been made to take random samples for the Covid-19 test in resorts and other tourist facilities. He further stated that to promote the tourism industry it is vital to create a safe environment for everyone involved in it.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Ministry has also stated that the permits will be suspended if any tourist facility has violated the set guidelines and SoPs made for the health and safety of everyone in the tourist facility.
Tourist facilities have been permitted to restart and operate subject to compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines set forth by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and the Ministry of Tourism.
