As per the recent records, 35,759 tourists have arrived in the Maldives, alone in November 2020. Which is a 66 percent increase from the number of arrivals recorded in October 2020.
As per the Ministry of Tourism, November month has recorded the most number of arrivals since the border opening on July 15. The increase in the number of arrivals has proven that amidst the pandemic, the tourism industry of the Maldives is bouncing back.
Since the border reopening, the maximum number of arrivals on a single day was also recorded in November with 2,299 arrivals.
The top source market for the tourist arrival in November was Russia with 8,581 arrivals, followed by India with 7,610 and the U.S.A with 2,093 tourist arrivals. The United Kingdom stood fourth on the list with 2,091 tourist arrivals, followed by Germany with 2,087 tourist arrivals.
