This Friday, the UK medical regulators approved Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine for use.
Following the approval, the health ministry has said that it is agreed to purchase an additional 10 million doses of the shot as it eyed a spring rollout of the shot. Hence the UK has ordered 17 million doses of Moderna’s vaccine. As per the authorities, Moderna vaccine supplies will begin to be delivered to the UK from spring, once Moderna expands its production capability.
With the approval of Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine, along with the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, Oxford University, and AstraZeneca, UK now has three Covid-19 vaccines approved for use.
Moderna’s vaccine was 94 percent effective in preventing disease in late-stage clinical trials, and it has already been approved for use in the United States, Canada, and the European Union.
