Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal met with Italy’s Minister of Tourism, Her Excellency Daniela Santanchè discuss strategies aimed at increasing Italian tourist arrivals in the Maldives and enhancing bilateral investments. The meeting held today focused on promoting tourism and strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Minister Faisal expressed his gratitude for the productive talks. He highlighted discussions on strategies to boost Italian tourist numbers, facilitate investments from Italian businesses in the Maldivian tourism sector, and explore further avenues of collaboration.
So far this year, 108,463 tourists from Italy have visited the Maldives, showcasing the growing appeal of the islands as a prime destination for Italian travelers. The Maldivian government aims to build on this momentum and continue attracting more visitors in the future.
This meeting comes as part of broader efforts by the Maldivian government to attract foreign investment and promote tourism. In addition, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is currently on a state visit to India to strengthen foreign investor engagement in the tourism industry, further underscoring the government's commitment to boosting the sector.
