Iran has formally lodged a complaint with the United Nations nuclear watchdog regarding Israel's threats to attack its nuclear facilities, the Iranian foreign ministry announced on Monday.

Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made the statement during a weekly news conference.

Baghaei emphasized that such threats violate UN resolutions, asserting that they have been condemned by Iran. “Threats to attack nuclear sites are against UN resolutions... we have sent a letter about it to the UN nuclear watchdog,” he stated.

The tensions escalated following Israel's vows to retaliate for a missile attack launched by Iran on October 1, which was aimed at Israeli targets. This attack is seen as a response to Israeli strikes on Iranian allies, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. The October 1 incident marks Iran's second missile attack on Israel this year, with the first occurring in April, which prompted an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian air defense site.

In a separate announcement, Baghaei indicated that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi would visit Bahrain and Kuwait on Monday as part of Iran's broader efforts to ease regional tensions. The diplomatic moves come amid rising hostilities and concerns over the potential for further military confrontations in the region.
