In the early hours of Sunday, a Russian drone attack targeted Kyiv, damaging buildings, roads, and power lines, according to the capital’s military administration. The strikes, launched in waves from multiple directions, were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses, which successfully shot down all attacking drones, said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv military administration, in a Telegram update.

Popko confirmed that no injuries resulted from the attack, which left structural damage across Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi and Holosiivskyi districts. Falling debris struck at least five buildings, including a hostel and an office building, damaging entrances, windows, and nearby infrastructure. Initial reports suggested emergency services were attending a fire in Shevchenkivskyi, though Popko later clarified that no fire had occurred.

Photos shared by Kyiv's military administration on Telegram reveal the extent of the damage, showing shattered entrances, broken windows, and downed power lines scattered across the roads.

The Shevchenkivskyi district, a hub near Kyiv’s center, is known for its educational institutions, restaurants, and historical sites, while the Holosiivskyi district includes a large national park. Both areas lie on the city’s western bank of the Dnipro River, making them busy parts of the capital, typically filled with residents and visitors.

Sunday’s drone assault marked the second night in a row that Kyiv came under attack. The scale of the assault remains uncertain, though Reuters witnesses reported hearing explosions and observing smoke plumes over residential areas.

The city and the majority of eastern Ukraine remained under air raid alerts intermittently through the night, underscoring ongoing tensions as Ukraine’s eastern front continues to grapple with Russian military incursions.
