The 241 Committee is set to begin reviewing a bill proposed by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to amend the Immigration Act to prevent Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives.

The bill, introduced by South Galolhu MP Meekail Naseem, was initially passed by the Parliament and referred to the 241 Committee on June 10 last year. However, it has since stalled within the committee, prompting criticism from both the opposition MDP and the People’s National Front (PNF). The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) recently called for the bill’s swift progress.

Ibrahim Falaah, chairman of the 241 Committee and Inguraidhoo MP, confirmed that the committee will convene on Tuesday to determine a timeline for the bill’s completion.
