Health Minister Abdullah Nazim has announced that the government’s recent anti-tobacco measures have been met with widespread public support. Speaking at a press conference held at the Health Ministry, he emphasized the positive reception of these efforts among parents and residents.
When asked about the government’s initiatives to combat tobacco use, Minister Nazim stated that discussions and public feedback demonstrated significant backing for the measures. “Parents and the people have consistently called for these actions through various media and platforms. This motivated the government to implement these measures swiftly,” he said.
He highlighted that addressing tobacco use aligns with a key health prevention agenda outlined in the President's manifesto. “One of the most critical tasks in fulfilling those promises is tackling the tobacco issue, which remains one of the biggest challenges to our health system,” Nazim explained.
The minister underscored the importance of decisive and timely action. “Many countries have struggled with prolonged implementation of anti-tobacco policies. However, nations that achieved success did so by taking strong, rapid measures. We are drawing from those experiences as we continue this work,” he added.
Nazim reiterated the government’s commitment to enforcing the measures as part of its broader health objectives, aiming to safeguard public health and reduce tobacco-related harm across the country.
