Referring to the devastating fire that ravaged key government buildings in Malé City on Thursday, President Muizzu shared his personal grief over the loss. The incident destroyed the buildings housing the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development; the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure; and the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy.

He said the tragedy struck a personal chord, noting his past affiliations with the affected ministries and Malé City Council. He described it as deeply painful to witness the destruction of institutions where countless dedicated staff served the nation.

Despite the gravity of the situation, President Muizzu emphasized resilience. He praised the collaborative efforts that began immediately after the incident and confirmed that all three ministries will resume operations on Sunday. He expressed deep gratitude to everyone who worked tirelessly to restore essential services in such a short time.
