The Maldives has achieved a significant milestone in its tourism sector by welcoming the two-millionth tourist of the year.

The milestone tourist, an Austrian woman traveling with her husband and two children, arrived this morning on a Qatar Airways flight.

The family was given a warm reception at Velana International Airport by Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, alongside officials from the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Customs, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), and Immigration. As part of the celebrations, the family received a special six-day stay at Sai Lagoon Maldives Resort.

The government has focused on showcasing the Maldives' unique offerings, including its luxury resorts, turquoise waters, and thriving marine ecosystems. These efforts have been instrumental in attracting travelers from around the world.

The arrival of the two-millionth tourist symbolizes the resilience and growth of the Maldivian tourism sector, a vital pillar of the country’s economy, and sets the stage for further success in the coming years.
