President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans for a bulk delivery of rock boulders to resume construction on a stalled building project in Rathafandhoo. He made the statement while addressing residents of the island during his visit to several islands in Huvadhu Atoll on Wednesday.
In his speech, President Muizzu emphasized the government's commitment to restarting stalled projects affected by material and funding shortages. He disclosed that he recently met with corporate owners, Finance Minister Moosa Zameer, and Minister of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib to address these challenges. He confirmed that a structured plan and necessary funds had been secured within the past week.
The President outlined the government's broader development plans for Rathafandhoo, assuring residents that the water and sewerage project would resume and include necessary service extensions. He also announced plans to establish a community swimming area on the island.
Addressing financial services, President Muizzu reiterated the ongoing initiative to introduce ATM services across all Maldivian islands, confirming Rathafandhoo’s inclusion this year. Additionally, he revealed plans to establish a fully equipped waste management center tailored to the island’s needs within the year.
Providing updates on infrastructure, the President noted that work on Rathafandhoo’s ice plant is progressing with support from Saudi funds, and Finance Minister Zameer will soon engage with the fund representatives.
