The number of Covid-19 positive cases reported from the M. Kolhufushi Island cluster increases up to 25.

The first case from Kolhufushi island was reported after a person who traveled from Kolhufushi to Male’ was tested positive to Covid-19. Following the first Covid-19 case, the Health Protection Agency has taken multiple random samples from the island. So far, 52 people are identified as direct contacts to the first Covid-19 case.

After Covid-19 was detected from Kolhufushi Island, HPA placed the island under monitoring on January 24 to continue contact tracing and random sampling.

Previously a total of 10 people tested positive to Covid-19, and with an additional 15 cases, the total number of positive has increased to 25 from the Kolhufushi cluster. The additional cases also include the captain of the Handhuvaru boat, which travels between Male’ and Kolhufushi Island.

As per the information received to Ras Online, Covid-19 infected people from Kolhufushi include an elderly person, a one-year-old toddler, and a teacher. In addition to this, a police officer, an administration officer from the Council administration office, and the wife and a child of the ambulance driver.
