The People's National Congress (PNC) Deputy Prosecutor Leader and MP for Villimale Constituency, Mohamed Ismail, has reaffirmed the party’s full confidence in Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan.

This declaration follows the submission of a no-confidence motion by the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). The motion, signed by 12 members of the MDP parliamentary group, alleges that the minister has engaged in unlawful activities.

MP Mohamed Ismail stated that the PNC parliamentary group would not allow the motion to proceed, emphasizing that the party’s support for the minister remains steadfast as long as President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu continues to have confidence in him.

Minister Ihusaan has been lauded by the PNC for his contributions in addressing critical national issues. These include combating drug-related crimes, curbing gang violence, and resolving challenges within the immigration system.

The MDP’s no-confidence motion has drawn criticism from the PNC, which views the minister’s efforts as pivotal to maintaining national security and stability. The motion is expected to be debated in parliament in the coming days.
