Maldivian, the Maldives' national airline, has announced the launch of direct flights to Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai, signaling a significant expansion of its international network.
This development follows the acquisition of the airline's first wide-body Airbus A330-200, a crucial step in enhancing tourism and economic ties between the Maldives and China.
The inaugural flights will begin with Chengdu on January 22nd, Beijing on January 24th, and Shanghai on January 27th, 2025. The Airbus A330-200 will feature three cabin classes: 18 Business Class seats, 36 Premium Economy seats, and 210 Economy Class seats.
Chief Commercial Officer Ismail Amrah Umar described the launch as a milestone in the airline's growth strategy. "By connecting the Maldives directly with three major Chinese cities, we are enhancing accessibility for Chinese tourists while fostering stronger cultural and economic ties," he said.
To commemorate the launch, Maldivian is offering special fares for the inaugural flights, including $688 for Male'-Chengdu, $788 for Male'-Beijing, and $777 for Male'-Shanghai routes. The fares include a 40kg baggage allowance and a meal package. Travel periods for the promotional fares are from January 22-30 for Chengdu, January 24-February 1 for Beijing, and January 27-February 4 for Shanghai.
This initiative aligns with Maldivian's vision to boost global connectivity and support the Maldives’ tourism industry. Regular scheduled flights will maintain stable links between these destinations and the Maldives.
Travelers can book flights or find additional information through the Maldivian website or contact the airline via email at [email protected].
