Former President Abdullah Yameen has strongly criticised President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, accusing him of corruption and abuse of power.

Speaking at a town hall meeting organised by the PNF, Yameen alleged that President Muizzu has a strong inclination toward stealing and claimed that individuals are being appointed to state positions based on their involvement in theft and corruption.

Yameen further accused the president of openly engaging in corrupt practices, including the embezzlement of state funds to pursue personal luxuries and worldly pleasures.

He also expressed concern over the silence of religious scholars, stating that it was troubling for them to remain quiet while a leader in power acts against religious principles. Yameen said there was little value in issuing religious rulings on other matters without speaking out against the alleged wrongdoing of those in leadership.

The government has not yet responded to the allegations.
