Fulfilling a key presidential pledge, an agreement to establish ATM services in R. Vaadhoo was signed today between the Bank of Maldives (BML) and the Vaadhoo Council.

The initiative aims to bring banking services closer to residents across all islands in the Maldives, enhancing convenience and accessibility. The signing took place during a meeting with the people of R. Vaadhoo, where President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on promises made during his campaign.

The government officially launched the nationwide ATM installation project on November 7, 2023. Under the agreement, ATMs will be installed in 17 islands during the first phase, which is scheduled to be completed by March 17, 2024.

The project will continue with the installation of 56 ATMs in the second phase, followed by 30 additional ATMs in the final phase. This comprehensive rollout underscores the government’s focus on expanding banking infrastructure and improving financial inclusion in all inhabited islands.
