The Maldives' Ambassador to China, Fazeel Najeeb, has expressed optimism about the future of the country’s tourism sector, particularly in the Chinese market, following the launch of new flights.
In an interview with PSM, Fazeel highlighted that the flights from Chengdu and Beijing have been well-received, with many already operating at full capacity. He emphasized the vast potential of the Chinese market, noting that China’s middle class is the largest in the world, offering tremendous opportunities for tourism growth.
Fazeel pointed out that last year, China emerged as the Maldives’ number one tourism market, and with the introduction of new flights by both Maldivian and Chinese airlines, the market is expected to remain a key driver of tourism growth.
The Ambassador further stressed the importance of maintaining high-quality services to ensure continued success. He noted that Chinese media, including newspapers and TV stations, have shown significant interest in the Maldives, which is expected to contribute to the continued success of the flights.
Fazeel concluded by stating that sustaining Maldivian’s services in China will be critical in keeping the Chinese market strong and ensuring that the Maldives remains a top destination for Chinese travelers.
