President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced plans to implement 35 mosque construction projects this year, underscoring the government's commitment to strengthening Islamic practices and infrastructure.

He made these remarks while delivering the Presidential Statement at the inaugural session of the 2025 Parliament.

Highlighting the principles that define the future of the Maldivian nation, President Muizzu emphasized the significance of Islam, national sovereignty, and the protection of freedom. He stressed the importance of preserving religious values as central pillars for societal growth and development.

President Muizzu revealed that MVR 7,868,953 has been allocated from the state budget for the maintenance and repair of mosques in 2024. The significant investment is part of ongoing efforts to ensure mosques remain well-maintained and accessible to worshippers across the Maldives.

He also highlighted initiatives to promote adherence to the five daily prayers, describing it as a fundamental pillar of Islam and essential for strengthening religious practices in society.

Furthermore, the President announced the re-establishment of the National Assembly on Mosques, tasked with monitoring the condition of mosques on a daily basis to ensure their upkeep and functionality.

The President's remarks reaffirmed the administration's dedication to fostering a spiritually enriched and well-equipped environment for worship in the Maldives.
