Hulhumale' will see the construction of a new fish packing factory this year, Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam confirmed during today's parliament sitting.

Addressing questions about the project's timeline, Shiyam stated that funding for the project has already been secured through the Islamic Development Bank. The project announcement is expected within the next two months, with construction set to begin by mid-year.

He explained that the facility is relatively small in scale, and the government expects it to be completed by the middle of next year.

The minister highlighted that the new factory would provide much-needed solutions to challenges faced by fishermen, including more efficient fish processing and packaging services. The project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the fisheries sector and ensure better support for fishermen across the country.
