Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has assured that the Maldivian government is actively working to resolve issues faced by Maldivians living abroad, including visa and identification concerns.
Minister Zameer made the remarks while meeting with Maldivians residing overseas during his official visit. He highlighted that the primary challenge for many Maldivians living abroad is visa-related difficulties and noted that ongoing discussions with relevant authorities have yielded promising progress.
Additionally, he stated that efforts are underway to streamline the issuance of Maldivian passports and identification cards, with consultations held with immigration and national registration authorities.
During the meeting, Minister Zameer urged Maldivians to adhere to the laws and regulations of their host countries.
The visit comes at the invitation of Foreign Affairs, Employment, and Tourism Minister HM Vijitha Herath. As part of his engagements, Minister Zameer has met with key government figures, including Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Minister Harini Amarasuriya and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Foreign Secretary Fatima Inaya and Additional Secretary Amina Abdullah are accompanying Minister Zameer on this visit.
